Hi guys I make computer video tutorials for my websites but upload the video to youtube to store them there. Of course I have made the video's public because Youtube does send me traffic to my websites... BUT Other websites have uploaded my videos and used the same username I have on Youtube. They are small to large video hosting sites like Youtube. Some have even taken my description and keywords with it. And the thing is, I do not mind if credit is given to my site, but in some cases there is no mention of where the video came from. They are copying my username and content to another site. Do you think this is ok? Should I hide the embeded code? How can I stay public and stop these guys from ripping off my content??
Theres no real answer to this since you did make your links public on youtube. These people who are reuploading may be using your videos, or they may be fans of yours just spreading the good word around the net. It happens a lot online, I upload my ezine on a torrent site and bam it's on like 50 other torrent sites I've never heard of before. If you really want these videos removed, and they really are your tutorials you can probably send DMCA Notices to the video hosts demanding that your videos be removed. And then any site embedding from those sites will also lose the video. Even if their not officially copyrighted there's probably a Creative Commons License that your videos fall under. Yeah you should probably remove the embed code. Make it so that only you can post the videos around, and that spot on Youtube is the official location of your videos. Hope I helped you out some.
maybe you should have watermarked you videos.. youtube is a public video sharing site, so everything you upload is considered uncopyrighted and can be shared by anyone. just my 2 cents.
