my homepage http://www.whatsyourview.net/ pagerank is pr2 my registration page http://www.whatsyourview.net/register.php is pr3 :wtf: why on earth would an internal link which has no backlinks have a higher pagerank than my homepage.
You think that's crazy, my website is even worse! My website Credit Card Forum has many PR 3 and 4 pages, but the home page is PR 0! ZERO! That is crazy and I'm so pissed. Why are my internal pages getting PR 3's and 4's when my main site has over 20x more backlinks than any of my internal pages have. I'm so pissed off....
That makes perfect sense. In weighing PageRank, internal links count just as much as external links (with their own PR being the math behind the weight of the link). When viewing the site as a guest (like Google would), EVERY page has at least two links to the register page. You should nofollow those links, which will help keep more PR on the pages that matter. Also, you aren't canonicalizing your site properly. If I type in "whatsyourview.net", it should automatically put the "www" in there, to make sure the PR is all going to the same place. Read up on mod_rewrite for easy ways to do that.
Can any one tell me how google ranks site and how PR is decided I am still not able to understand? Kindly sugest. Thanks
PR is a mathematical formula, based on the number of links you have coming into a particular page, factoring in the PR of the linking page, along with how many other links are on that page. Google site ranks are more complex. They use hundreds of factors, including where links come from, text on the page, etc. You can (and should) spend a few hours researching it to get a better idea of some of the criteria they use.
