Just about a month ago, my website was #1 for the keyword "galaxy y blog" in Google's search engine and now it's somewhere in the 3rd page and that's not the only problem, by having my website moved to 3rd page, not only did it cut my visitor count to half, but it also killed my Adsense revenue, this simply sucks and I keep wondering what caused this as I haven't done any changes at all. The platform is Blogger, any ideas?
Maybe There are some spammy techniques used in your SEO. (I'm not sure) Just check your backlinks etc. to see If there is any spammy backlinks and remove them
Can you please tell me what kind of backlinks are counted as spammy? Is it wrong to mention a website in a post for promotional purposes?
Google updates the rankings every couple of weeks. There isnt much you can do other than create good backlins and drive quality raffic to your site. For example no-follow comment backlinks are considered spammy.
So could backlinks be the only cause for such issues or other techniques such as stuffing the template file with meta keywords? I did that quite a while ago and nothing really happened, this rank drop hit me in 5th August. I also remember a while ago followin some guide on "Optimizing post title for better SEO". So I just removed both of these things off the template and I'm waiting to see if things will change now. Do changes apply quick or it takes up to 1 or 2 weeks?
Was that guide outdated? A year ago keyword stuffing would've helped your ranking but nowadays completely different story.
You might have bought/gained too many backlinks in a short span of time. You need to be consistent when it comes to backlink building.
Backlinks with high keyword density(more than 60%) in anchor text are considered as spammy . By the way you should limit upto 60% but not more than that. Check if your site is not linking to an automated blog, sniper sites etc . Also you don't want to build backlinks fast , you should have a consistent and clear plan to create backlinks . for eg - 10-15 backlinks per day is a good and steady way .
Well thanks for the replies guys, I'm still having a little trouble figuring out how exactly backlinks work and what they actually are in the first place, I'll do my best to lookup some info about it. I recently came across this article: http://www.mybloggertricks.com/2013/08/updated-google-backlink-policies.html Is it possible that my website got penalized for that particular reason? I've had a "Friends" widget where I had been exchanging links with some people.
