There's so many factors involved in SEO. Directories is a good place to start, but I'd recommend spending the next several months reading everything you can on SEO. It takes awhile to absorb it all.

Trust me on this. The only directories worth submitting to are Forplex, Aviva and Alive directories.

The deeeeep links in other directories are completely worthless.

Col, I was just about to submit to your directories, thanks for the info. Just kidding.

On the serious side, why do you say directories are worthless ? It all depends on how tough a niche is, or not ?

Directory links seldom pick up by the bots.. at least based from my experiences..

The best and safe way is to write quality articles, put up attractive signature links etc.

Your main concern on your site is content. You need more content daily and deeplinks to new pages to overtake your competition. You have a relatively easy keyword to go for, but I believe directory submissions will not do the trick here, but frequent content additions will make a huge difference.

    Hi,

I agree with that, but directory submission wil help you get some easy links also. But yes frequent content will do a good job for you.

Start analyzing the content of your site.
Select the best keyword to target.
Create a content using your targeted keyword.
Optimized each page of your site.

1.Then you can start submitting your site to directories.
2.Post to forums and put your signature.
3.Link exchange with related sites that has high PR.
4.You can also write an article that is related to your site and use some of the keyword of your site. Submit it to article directories and also create a blog for your site and post the article you've created.
