My website www.coffeeandcaffeine.com is not ranking well, anyone know why?

I bought it recently and changed the template and added some additional pages, however it does not show for key terms?

what is your targeted keywords??you might have a lot of competitors on that keyword or keyphrase that why you can't see your site on top....try on-page optimization...improve your contents with your targeted keywords but be sure you'll not spam your content and for off-page, improve your link popularity, submit your site to link directories and create articles and submit them to article directories with your link on the resource box using your keyword as your anchor text...

try moving up the Meta Description and Keywords below the Title so the crawlers can easily spot it and why only 2 keywords? Have you ever done keywords research on your site?

As what candid_kris has mentioned, your targeted keywords may be very competitive, hence, making your site more difficult to rank well. Try link baiting to attract more inbound links.

I would say you are over doing it with the keywords "coffee" for the amount of overall <body></body> text. I really think this is a form of spamming.

    My keywords would be:

    coffee machines
    espresso machines
    coffee grinders
    coffee machine repairs
    coffee beans

Is my source code OK I wonder?

Source code isn't the big player. Although On site SEO is effective...off site is the most important...

    My 2 cents:
    1. focus on two or three of the keywords for starters (given your site isn't ranking well yet)
    2. How old is the site? Get some authority links.
    3. Look at your anchor text..you might have tons of links but it's important that the links say what the site is about.

    1. Choose your most important keyword and put them in first 20 chars in title tag, most 60-65 chars or may be diluted important for your each keywords intitle tag.
    2. Your site's age is 2 years, not new but not old, keep contration on link building as one-way and put more original contents on your site.
    3. Your domain will be expired in 2008, you may consider to extend more 5 years.

Hi, also, something else I have seen is people placing tons and tons of JavaScript in the <head> tag before the title, meta description etc. If you must place JavaScript in the head tag place it after these meta tags.

    Just a thought
    Regards
    Markus

i would suggest to separate the JS code from the page and make a link to it, so the page may reduce the file size

I was talking about navigation keywords on your pages, each link has coffee at the start and your overall text does not equal the amount of coffee's you have. I'd say it looks unnatural.
I have seen a lot of pages submitted to me with rows of text in their navi starting with the same keyword and their main text is next to nothing.
In other words 30 40 links same keywords and maybe 10 lines of text for main page... So search engines see keyword spamming.

    You think I should remove:

    Coffee Blog December 2006
    Coffee Blog November 2006
    Coffee Blog October 2006
    Coffee Blog September 2006

    And change them to:

    December 2006
    November 2006
    October 2006
    September 2006

    or:

    Blog December 2006
    Blog November 2006
    Blog October 2006
    Blog September 2006

    To reduce the word coffee?

pr can grow with irrelevant links on friends high pr sites, but this is not a good way to rank well. You should really do search engine optimization for that, chosing keywords, and getting backlinks on relevant websites with the keywords in anchor.

    How do I get links?

Anyone advice? Do I buy them from text-link-ads or similar? Do I submit to directories?

Suggestions on a link campaign would be great. I already know about the article method.

External javascipts means, do not embed javascript in your html page, but create a separate .js file and link it in the header of your page.

Authority links are like from Yahoo, DMOZ, BOTW, MSN Business Directory, WIkipedia, edu, gov and such. Alternatively, other sites that have been around for a while and rank well for your particular keyword, Obviously the ones ranking in top 5 won't give you a link but check with others, who knows may be they could help you.

Text-link-ads will definitely help, get some good links from there with similar theme, not just random.

This is an example of an external javascript, it is a standard code so don't worry about the cost. All you need is a file that calls the javascript codes.
     <script language="JavaScript" src="/css/swapimage.js" type="text/JavaScript"></script>
    PHP:
Look for high PR directories and submit your sites to those directories. Vilesilencer got lots of it so just browse if you want good links.

Here is the URL - http://info.vilesilencer.com/
