After almost a year of work with www.ps3center.net ... I decided she needed some change. We just finished implementing the latest design and this one should be the final one. I`ve also hired two new writers for the website! Now I`m ready for the PS3 launch on November 17th! What do you guys think of the look/design?
My first impression is that it looks good - although its unfortunate that u've got ad banners and such on the site because it really spoils things. The site index specificially is very image heavy - if your using a lower screen resolution you have to scroll down to get to the first block of content which doesn't actually tell me anything about the site. Being image heavy as well is going to have quite a large impact on your bandwidth especially if you are hoping to get a high number of hits each month! Not to deter you though i like the design i just think its way to image heavy and nothing specific in regards to actual content. Its just too complex and cramped for my liking.
Yes, the website is designed for a 1024 x 768 resolution or higher. It is best viewed at a 1280 x 1024 resolution for the moment. I really tried to give it a professional look and of course I wanted to give it the "Gamer" look. So I looked at many console websites and gaming websites and designed a similar look to it. For example www.ign.com etc. Since this website is pointed towards a younger age group, I went towards an "attractive" look with many images. As for the ads, I setup those 2 ad spaces because I am hoping to attract many game related companies to start advertising on www.ps3center.net, I set up key ad locations for big advertisers. Anyways thanks for the review, good or bad reviews are appreciated.
Don't get me wrong i think its a nice design, just a little image heavy. If you get the traffic your hoping for those images are going to put a rather large strain on your bandwidth and the pages will obviously load a lot, lot slower (depending on the quality of your host). At the end of the day its a nice site and you've designed it for an up and coming niche - which is an excellent idea! Now you just need them to stop delaying the release
hehe yea those damn delays .. but it looks good for november 17th! As for server .. I`m using site5.com ... a 60GB/month bandwith .. is that enough or I should upgrade ?
I like the design but the logo needs to go...I know I've seen it on a gaming site before (IGN?). Make a more unique logo that fits your name. Don't be gay and use someone else's idea.
I`ve actually never seen that logo anywhere ... all custom made by me ... I even took a custom font to go with it. Ign doesnt use anything close to it
I think it looks great. Along the lines of where I'd like to eventually get my ps3 site to. I'm on a campus terminal so I can't see if you've acquired PR, but I'd be interested in affiliating with you, doing link exchanges, etc. PM me if you want to work something out. Great design though. Gaming sites should be image intensive, so I say go with it.
dont i have to add a image link on my site with those topsites things? I`ll do it if i can put a text link
yea..the design is awesome!unfortunately, the content is far at the bottom..the first impression is ok..try to place your content at a right space so everyone can understand what are you trying to deliver.
yea the reason why i put the content a little lower is because I wanted to have an attractive look to it. You know "top stories" sliding through the website .. I find it gives it an awesome look
thanks guys! I`m wondering how many unique hits i`ll be able to get once the ps3 is out! .. anyone have an estimation maybe ? I have good rankings on many search engines
