I was using shared hosting for a while but man it would go down all the f'in time. Doesn't matter who your hosting company is, as long as there are other people's accounts on the same machine, there's always gonna be a jackass who takes everyone else down. Go with a virtual private server (VPS)...it's like night and day.

If you must have shared, go with HostMySite.com ...they're 24/7 phone support is the BEST. Hosting is $10/month I believe.

Do you guys have experience with Yahoo hosting? They charge about $11.95 / month and I think that's pretty reasonable. But haven't heard anything about them been mentioned any where. So someone could shed some light here!!!

    What's the package details?
Personally I like Hostgator.com and site5.com .The servers are really fast and stable.

Yahoo Package is pretty reasonable but wanted to know about performance, coz. not many people go with them as I haven't heard any one mention them yet that much. However you can find details here.

I suggest that you get vpsinfo and install it.

Disregard the fact that the name is vpsinfo, it is a very nice bit of php code that will give you a lot of info about any server. You may or may not be able to run it, depending on the PHP config on the server, but if you can, it is great.

I run it on my dedicated servers and it is very useful for me to see at a quick glance as to what is going on.

I used geocities hosting which is yahoo hosting a few years ago and they were never down, but the prices are really high and just not worth it and I have bad experiences with their support and trying to get my domain from them :)

Which host did you use that was super slow?

If its one person that is using up the server resources they should be able to tell him that they need more resources and ask them to move to a different level of service, Or it could be that they oversold the server and this issue will continue

Most likely its oversold, and honestly in the hosting world, if it sounds too good to be true it is! JMPearso, I'll shoot you a PM...
