    Hi Everyone,

I've just created my updated website for my local computer business. You can see it here www.scottspoonerit.co.uk

The problem I'm getting is quite a high bounce rate which I think is caused by slow loading times. Could you please let me know what you think of the site and if you have any suggestions regarding the slow loading time.

I did a GTMetrix test and it came back with a E on Specify a cache validator and a F on Serve scaled images.

    Thanks

It loaded super fast for me (in the US). I also tested it with tools.pingdom.com The overall performance grade was a C, and your site was faster than 87% of all sites. I'll leave it to the pros to comment on the HTML / scripting side of your site.

That's good then but what is your internet speed like? Yeh I've got my developers on it now trying a few things so we'll see how it comes out. Removed the blog and portfolio section of the website and the site size is a lot smaller however no change in speed :/

You are hosting with GoDaddy. You may want to consider a new host. The load speed in America was pretty fast--but only after I tested with prior load meaning your site was likely cached in RAM. The first test was from Sweden (using tools.pingdom.com which tests from the wrong server based on what you select in the drop-down). The load time was 11.10 seconds first load at about 12:30 Eastern Standard Time USA, about 4 or more hours from peak internet time.

A second test from Dallas, Texas, had a load time of 1.62 seconds.

A third test to a server in Sweden had a load time of 2.49 seconds.

But as your customers are going to be in Europe, you are going to want much faster load times in Europe than 11 seconds first load. As your site will not be high traffic, the first load time is critical. GoDaddy is notorious for overloaded servers. I cannot say right now that is the problem, but it is something you can research.

Also, all those transitions you have with stuff changing size and moving into position as you scroll down screams "amateur", as in "look what I learned to do". It is completely unnecessary and distracting. I hate that stuff. One or two might be okay, but not as many as you have.

When you scroll up from the bottom, the highlighted navigation on the left stays on "contact". The transition on the navigation menu is okay. It's just the rest of the stuff sliding into place, the transitions in the "6 years of experience" section that annoy me.

One more thing: your relatively simple brochure page has 109 file requests. That is excessive beyond words.
