I was thinking of making a new website where people post videos and write about the best sports play they have ever seen. Here is the catch though, the plays have to be from someone in their hometown or who isn't famous yet. OR nobody has seen before. Please give me some feedback on keyword competition and what you think is needed to complete this task. Thanks! What i mean by what do i need means what kind of website buildern do i need? Joomla, wordpress? I have no idea.
You need to go to major video site such as youtube and look for the talented sport player. For starting a wordpress blog will be sufficient.
I think this idea would be hard but what online venture is not hard to succeed in these days Most people who are lucky enough to record such video footage will want to get as many people to see the vid as possible so they will put it up on youtube as everyone knows how big it is and if people seek fame from it then its got more chance then a unknown video site. Unless you could attract people to want to post such videos by holding contests with rewards or prizes but then people would try to steal videos and post them there in the hope you will not know they have been posted elsewhere. Then you need heaps of traffic or ways to get the videos viewed and lastly make the site profitable after all the expenses for hosting, seo, promotion, prizes etc. Lots of hard work and time would be required if it is going to be anymore then a little successful. But if you are truly determined to do this project then go for it
the idea is really good, you can even combine some more videos from youtube, afterall everything in this website is good, carry on it will go really far away.
ya i checked the market and it is very low but i really like the idea of it and think it would be fun since i am a very advid sports fan! Anways i was just hoping to start with a cheaper alternative to a huge hosting account to store all of my videos to just embed them from youtube in my website and just add comments and ratings to each video. Also have video of the week and fun stuff like that!
I like the idea, and could prove to be a funny and very interesting site for people to check out. Implementing it and developing it may be another story however. Hope you have a few good videos to get started, because I think it has a potential to be one of those quirky sites that people enjoy and check back for new entries.

Since you're looking for undiscovered talent, why not focus on highschool / college games? That is, focus on the fans of local teams to upload videos of the best plays.
