Hello, I'm not to sure why this happens. Last week I did a Google search for a 3 word phrase and my website came up in #6 position. A day later #5, another day #4 then on Thursday it showed up in #3 position I took a screen shot because I was excited. About 3 hours later it disappeared all together. I can't even find it going 20 pages deep. I never changed anything on the website. Does anyone have an idea what might have happened? Thanks
You could just be hitting different data centers. Use this tool to check across several DC's: http://www.mcdar.net/
Kevinn I think your right, I tore up the picture. Now when I check my search using drhfinegifts link to check accross all data centers I come up #2 in everyone of them. Wow, they must be watching the DP forum Thanks for the link drhfinegifts
Something very strange. I come up #2 accross all data centers. In Firefox it shows me at #2 In Opera, not even on the page In IE, not even on the page I cleared all cache from all browsers and get same results as above Is there something different about the way different browsers work with Google?
I think that's called "GoogleFlux" ... Google is a dynamic, living, undulating, IRRITATING and frustrating, thing.... It should eventually settle down.. until the next update - then it's time to get on the roller coaster again..
Interesting, I just read an article on GoogleFlux and it saying movement goes on constantly with Google. And that Google might be loosing it's appeal forcing users to start using other SE's Hooda thunk?
But if I do a search within a second of each other on the 3 browsers wouldn't you think you would have some consistancy in such a short period of time?
not really.. think of it this way: DC 1 = (updated) your site is #1 DC 2 = (not updated) #2 DC 3 = (not) #299 now if you check your rankings you might get DC1, DC2 or DC3. so unless DC2 and DC3 is updated, you will get different results.
Same thing is happening to me right now, and I know... it sucks. I noticed that it sometimes does that but then a day or so late ryou will see the results you once had come up again. Hope everything goes back to the high ranks for you
Adiace, I just dont understand why a different browser gives different results from my same computer. If you do the following search "search big daddy" in FF Arizona Webs is #2 If you do the following search "search big daddy" in IE Arizona Webs is not there If you do the following search "search big daddy" in Opera Arizona Webs is not there 3 identical searches 3 different browsers And by the way I have a PR zero, have not done anything to promote my site at all and just happened to show up in position 2 out of 10,400
Here's an update, about 6 hrs later. My search shows up #2 in all browsers and across all datacenters. In order for me to stay in this position, do I just leave my site alone or What should I change in it to keep it updated so the Google see's changes but does not knock me off the top of the ladder.
