My Webnoticeboard idea....please critic!

Hi everyone, i recently posted on these forums while brainstorming a photowall idea...since that time i've expanded on my idea and made it more broader if you will.

My idea is to create a website where customers can place their adverts/images/blogs etc in a more creative manner. You have the option to choose from various different items you could pin your link to...ie maybe you have a photography blog and would like to advertise your link within a polaroid film? or a business you'd like to have linked within a business card holder? The idea is simple as you'll see from my image below. Obviously the larger the item (amount of space you take up within the board) the more you'll have to pay for the advert, minimum being $1 for the cheapest and smallest.

I was also going to allow for a custom option, where the customer can opt to have their own say in what item they would like pinned to the site, and of what size and i can price accordingly.

What others ideas may you have for me? And would a site like this be successful do you think? I've been thinking about it for awhile now...

I am going to start off with an empty board, anyone willing to contribute please let me know, and i will place your advert on my site free of charge for the first 10 customers (you tell me what item you want, and what image or logo you'd like placed on there and i'll do the rest)

    Thanks in reply,

Here's the rough idea: Also the customer can choose how they'd like their item pinned (tape/tack/pin/star tack etc...)

This is a nice idea, now that you have revealed it, you should implement it before anyone else does. You can try implementing it and see if it works or not. Also, your website will need views inorder to get those advertisers noticed.

Thanks - It's only a few days away from being online - I was hoping to attract attention by allowing the first few customers free adverts and then start building links and SEO to get visitors to my site. Anyone interested please PM me and i will have your link online for when the site goes LIVE :) Thanks

Looks like a good idea, even though it looks very much like the million pixel thing where the guy sold 1 pixel on his website for $1. The question is, why would someone see value in this. You would have to get a lot of visitors first.

Well the idea was to attract alot of visitors to the site to make customers more attracted to the idea of purchasing the adverts....That and the fact its very unique in the way people can advertise on the site - original content always helps from experience? Any ideas to make it better, and how is the best way to advertise such a site? Thanks..

Thanks, im almost ready to go live with this - difference between this site is that it's limited in the amound of adverts(space) allowed which to me makes it more attractive if visitor count goes up for potential buyers - also makes their content on the site more valuable. That's the plan to attract customers anyway.

thanks - i was actually referring to the difference between my site and pinterest, but yes, million dollar homepage is kind of similar in it's idea and made $1m :) My idea was to only rent out the space for periods of time thus the lower prices....

Perfect idea! I think, that you can also allow costumers to draw the "ad banner" for themselves. Best way to promote it is to offer an opportunity to share a web-page with costumer's ad in social networks. Do you agree?
