I dont get it, ya it's almost a buck an install but why would anyone want to give their customers spyware?

Zango, formerly 180solutions and Hotbar, manufactures known adware and spyware typically required to access partner's games, DRM-protected videos and software. Zango software is listed as "Adware" by Symantec.[1] McAfee states, "this program may have legitimate uses", but describes it as a "potentially unwanted program", and an "adware downloader"

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zango

lol whatever though, good luck with that

If it was known malicious software, Some form of action would have been taken against it.

It's all a matter of opinion.

    Promoting spyware/malware/popups, fantastic.

I guess if you don't care about your surfers, Zango's good.

EDIT: I'm pretty sure there have been lawsuits, and I know they're blackballed by a lot of webmasters. Do you even know what the Zango installs actually DO? They basically pull up advertiser's paid refcodes/links in a popup over any site that the infected computer goes to - some shadier companies target their competitors URLS, for example. In adult, which relies heavily on affiliate programs, it essentially makes that customer lost to you because even if you're the one who convinces them to visit a site, the Zango install pops up someone else's refcode.

The users have their own option to install or not. Spyware does not give you the option.

If the user does not want to install it, he/she does not have to.

It's still an all around shady operation, and potentially screws both you and other webmasters out of future sales. Not worth it in the long run, at least to me. I also try to keep my sites clean of popups/adware, but that's just me... I try not to inflict anything on my surfers that would piss ME off if I was the viewer.

Furthermore, it's essentially preying on the type of people who are internet newbies/don't read TOS carefully enough - the same way Bonzai Buddy and its ilk did/do. Way too many people click through and accept stuff without reading terms.

I just think it's not something I want my websites associated with, just puts a bad taste in my mouth, and like I said... every person that installs Zango is a potentially lost future customer. Very bad for the long term.

I understand your theory, Palais, And I myself agree.
If I clicked through and had to install zango, it would piss me off as well.

However, seeing as how Im a poor college student, and Im in this to make money (Yes, its not for fun, however it is a learning experience) Zango pays rather well.

I appreciate your input; it gives DP users a look at the good and the bad as opposed to my single biased view.

Now DP users can make a better decision if Zango is right for them.
