My understanding of getting high CPC

Now I've been with adsense for under a month. I signed up to adwords a week or 2 ago. I've read loads and someone told me that adwords was useful for trying to get a high CPC.

So this will be me more explaining what I think, and you guys telling me what you think.

Moving on. We all want to get big $$$. We have heard about the so called keywords that can get you $50 or so. I want these keywords!!! So I decided to do some research with AdWords.

So I go to the Keyword Tool: Campaign Summary > *Name* > Ad Group #1 > Keyword Tool

I chose 'site related keywords' and 'enter your own text in the box below. (optional) '.
Then 'Cost and Ad Position Estimates'. and finally i wanted to see the most people pay so randomly put in £60 (local currency so had to chose it - double it to get approx USD).

Anyway then I typed in one keyword at a time and checked out the figures I got. Most were less than £1, some were higher around £4/5. I found some around £8 which is even better. Unfortunately after around 40/50 tries, it stopped working :( So atm I cant give more info. Some great searches would be hosting/domains etc. JUST FOUND: 'Managed hosting' = £13.83! 'translate english to welsh' = £15.17 'school loan consolidation'= £33.18!!!!

Now here's how 'I' think you would increase the CPC - its what I'm currently trying out.

Using the keyword tool, find keywords relating to your site. Type them in and look through the list. I looked for high paying keywords, which were ALSO relevant. I looked for atleast £2 per keyword, but found some around £4/5. I wrote all of these down, noting the best paying ones.

So now I had my list of high paying keywords. What now?

Well my awful knowledge tells me that adsense picks ads by seeing the content of your site 'content is king'. So I wrote a paragraph or so, which were FULL of the keywords. It just about made sense, without sounding stupid, and it genuinely did give more information. I had my high-keyword-paying-content-rich-page.

Now I just saved it to the net and thats where I am atm. My site was an instant messaging based one, but I own some proxies so intend to play around with them.

Finishing off, this is how I logically expect CPC to increase. It may do so, it may not. Those more knowledgeable amongst you will probably pick out every criticism or something, but i'm new and experimenting - so don't be too evil :p

Some of you may thing this is obvious, and you already do it, but I'm almost certain there are those people who can use this information in some way.

Hopefully my writing was worth something :D

Feedback appreciated, I just felt like writing this because it seemed useful.

    Thanks.

There are no $50 adsense clicks. Using the keyword tool will give you a rough idea of higher paying keywords, however, it is virtually useless for determining prices. Position of an ad is determined by bid AND CTR. Google would rather show a lower bid ad that gets clicked vs. a higher bid ad that doesn't get clicked.

But the main problem is that the tool shows you an estimate for the google search AND content search combined. People running adsense only get access to content bids, which are generally much, much lower. Many advertisers don't even run ads on content which means the ad will never show.

You can have an advertiser bidding $3 for google search and 25 cents for content. You'll only get 25 cents (less googles cut) if someone clicks the ad. If your site gets smart priced, you could get a few pennies. You'll probably have much better luck in building a quality site in a niche you have genuine interest in. There are thousands of people chasing the so-called highest paying keywords and most fail to produce any significant revenue.
