help: I have a very ugly web site that has now got very decent PR.

The templates change all over the site, links are broken and scripts don't work.

Should I pay someone to redesign it? What should I be thinking at this stage?

I think this mostly happened from the articles I wrote a long time ago.

Redesign it but either keep the URLs the same or 301 redirect them to the new URLs

If you got all static html pages then you got a problem. :| If you want PM me with the site and i could give you a price quote and an evaluation on a good redesign without losing PR anywhere ;)

Even static html pages can be altered to contain php code. There really is nothing to worry about in altering the site.

You can change to look of the site with no risk to PR. You're unlikely to effect PR unless you drastically change content / subject matter...go for it, there are way too many ugly sites...

    What's decent?
Above 5 and you've got something to work on for sure.
If it's 5 and below it will be difficult to take advantage of it.

What keywords does it target most?

A site redesign often encompasses the changing of URLs.

Change a url without putting a proper redirect on it means the loss of all the PR.
