Hi guys, I have written a tutorial for Illustrator. It has been accepted and feature in many popular tutorial directory sites like pixel2life and tutorialized.com my tutorial: http://www.getw3help.com/2008/05/3d-hammer-using-illustrator.html copied tutorial page: http://www.divisionbell.com/2008/06/illustrator-tutorial-creating-3d-hammer.html what should i do??
ask them to remove it.. explaining to them that you're the copyright owner to that tutorial and that they've breached your rights to that copyright by copying your tutorial word-for-word.. also known as plagiarism. If they don't comply inform them that you'll be seeking legal action and a money judgement for their detrimental effects to your character and rights. Or, you can ask them to use it it quotes and add a backlink to your website...
You can also contact the host and request it to be removed. Most hosts would ask the site to take it down or block access to the site until the site owner takes the content down.
Most web hosting companies will insist that you provide them with a takedown notice that meets the requirements listed in the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
The images on the offender's site are hosted off of bp2.blogger.com, which I assume are linked to your site. You can remove, watermark, and reupload them. That should break the images on the other site and prevent blatant copying of your tutorial images.
I'm not sure (never used blogger) but you could just delete the images and reupload if updating them isn't possible. Then the person will go back to your site to find the images and subsequently only find the watermarked images, making their tutorial pretty much worthless. (people won't read tutorials without images)
blogger doesn't have file manager for images i think... i am not sure if any knows plz let me know... if that guy doesn't respond to my mail.. whats the next step i can take..? since he has copied my tutorial will i lose SERP?
No, since you were the original author Google will not penalize you. (if that were true news sites like cnn.com would be blacklisted by now) If anything, they might be penalized for copying content from another website
