Whenever I am creating a new Wordpress blog, these are the 5 must-have plugins that I install on every blog. 1. Google Sitemaps If you don´t have this plugin - GET IT NOW! 2. Related Posts Increase the stickiness of your site and make sure your visitors stick around for as long as possible. Theres more of a chance they will click an ad or buy something. 3. Database Backup If the worst-case scenario becomes a reality, this plugin will save your ass. 4. All In One SEO Pack The title does this plugin justice, this plugin covers basically everything you need for the SEO of your Wordpress blog. Make sure you set enticing meta descriptions for each post and don´t forget your meta keywords, too. 5. Wpforums Increase interactivity on your site once it gets going and set up a forum on your blog. It´s suprisingly easy, and can be fun too. Does anyone else have any plugins they would like to add?
i don't reccomend wp forums..instead install complete forum softwares like phpbb..mybb and integrate with wp blog
Akismet - Antispam wp-cache - Useful if you ever get Dugg (which I haven't yet but no harm in preparing) Share This - Make it as easy as possible to digg it, reddit, stumble.... Google Analytics - Useful to find out all about your traffic I haven't seen that wp-forum plugin before, anyone got an example of a site that utilizes it?
I'm currently using all of these. Except, instead of share this I use slashdigglicious. Same idea though.
Akismet is standard and didnt feel it was unique enough to mention - of course this should be activated right on install. Thanks for mentioning the social bookmarking friendly plugins - those are nice additions too.
If you use Ultimate Tags Warrior, a Related Posts plugin won't be necessary as you can just add the PHP tag for showing related entries where necessary. I found it to be pretty accurate too, but then again I've always been a tags junkie.
Akismet is great but I like to add "Bad Behavior" as well --- I HATE comment spam. Also I'm using "wp-notable" for the social networking. And I'm also a big fan of "aLinks" (I'd give you a link to it but I'm apparently too new.)
