My 7 month old son was playing and fell backwards and knocked his his head from about 32 CM (12.6 inches) high. Can anything happen?
It is possible that he could have a concussion or worse. Did he cry when it happened or was he dazed? When something similar happened to one of my young kids, that was the first thing that the doctor asked. Crying is a good sign. Being dazed is not. But if you are concerned, don't post on an IM forum. Seek out medical help.
I'm very concern, however, since its 32CM, I'm not sure if it is serious enough to take a trip to the Kids hospital. He yell for a while and touched his head with both hands. He did not cry, or did not seem dazed. But he does not cry easily.
What kind of father posts this on an IM forum, are you waiting for a doctor to come here and post advice or are you just stupid?
Duh!!! It has ALREADY happened according to your post. He bumped his noggin!!! He is either DEAD, or he has had some SENSE knocked into his head.
What did he actually knock his head on? Pointy corner of some furniture? might be a problem The floor as he landed? probably fine Head injuries are serious though and while most toddlers will have many, many tumbles it's important to watch for the bad ones.
Seems to me the height isn't high enough to have a serious concussion (or to have a concussion at all). But all concussions are serious, though. In some severe cases it can dramatically change one's personality. There was a case, here in Florida, when a teenager killed his mom, dad and attempted to kill his sister. Then he killed himself. She survived and told the authorities that his personality changed (he became angry, abusive, suicidal) after a concussion he endured while playing sports (or maybe he just fell while horsing around with his friends, I forgot the details). The terrible thing about any concussion is it has no real cure and it can negatively affect one's personality many many years down the road.
