My TLA Experience....

I emailed TLA (text-link-ads.com) today telling them I would be removing their code(s) from my site(s) on Dec 1st, and that they could close my account.

I thought I would hear a somewhat nice reply.

About 2 hrs later I received an email:
WHY would they need to refund the advertisers for the month of November, when I have for filled my obligation to keep the link(s) for that month?

I emailed them back asking that, just to be ignored (so far) and it seems like iv lost all of Novembers earnings (nothing is showing up in my account now) but ironically all the links are still on my sites!

Not only do they take a HUGE chunk of your money earned (50%) They also give discounts to advertisers on a monthly basis making your revenue less and less.

One of my text links was selling for $25 per month - 50% (TLA Share) I should of been getting 12.50 per month - I was getting $5.xx for this link as they were giving a "summer discount" which happened to last up till now - Late November. =\

So - in my opinion, TLA is a rip-off company, who cannot even pay their publishers, when NOTHING was done wrong. They have been going down and down in the advertising market, and now I can see why I have heard such nasty things about them lately from fellow webmasters.

If I were you; Go elsewhere to make your money.

Sounds like your better advertising than being publisher with them

I also have had bad experience with them. And look at what incompetents they are in the way they run AuctionAds and ShoppingAds. Dump them.

I wouldn't bother, especially when they are ripping me off for a whole months worth of earnings I should be receiving.

I'v never had anything bad to say (except I didn't like them making these discounts available and having my earnings for a site go downhill further and further) but iv heard MANY nasty things about them from others. I now can see why.

Auction/Shopping Ads are a joke to many webmasters, I don't use either of them myself :)

I, too, have had bad experiences with them. They cheated me out of a month's revenue too when I told them I would be changing my site from Wordpress to Drupal (their "exclusive" beta program didn't work with Drupal). They said that they had to refund the advertisers the entire month...even though I told them I would be changing the site after the month was over.

    Thanks a lot TLA.

Doesn't make a lot of sense to refund the advertisers for the month that already passed does it?

To me I think they are pocketing the money - they have no reason to refund IMO.

Shame you have not had good success with them when it came to taking your ads of. Some publishers just take the ads of without giving notice to the network or advertisers, at least you had done that which is good. I wouldn't have thought they would have done what they did to you. Shameful.

Does anyone have a list of alternative providers for this type of service?

I can't believe they take 50% commission and people still use then, it just doesn't make economic sense to me.

True, the 50% is steep considering the amount of work they actually do. But on the otherhand where else are going to get exposure to the vast number of buyers they have. I highly doubt that Fortune 500 companies come scouring through the Buy/Sell section here on DP.
