One thing on Yahoo Directory....submitting through Yahoo Canada www.yahoo.ca often ensures your in the Canadian directory within a week and the main directory within a month...

Plus, it is really worthwhile to sign up for Yahoo and then add your own site to "My Yahoo" as this sends the Yahoo RSS spider off to see your site. Of course, you need to have some element of your site which generates RSS but that can be sone.

    Shoe,

Getting back to your original post (haven't been to DP in quite a while and so just read it), I have some questions on your use of multiple corporations for adsense.

We do the same thing and start a new corp with its own adsense account for each new "collection" of websites. We are paranoid about how google might tie things together so we make sure all of the following are different:

    1) Adsesne account
    2) Address of Corp Entity
    3) IP's for sites on diff accounts do not comingle
    4) IP from which we check each adsense account is diff.
    5) Link sources for each "collection" do not comingle
    6) We will cross-link between collections but in a very limited way.

Anyway, it is item #2 that is starting to be a problem. We're about out of family members and such to use for addresses on new corp entities.

Do you use a different address for each of your corporations, or do you just use the same? We're too paranoid to change, but still am curious.

And, do you ever transfer a websote from one adsense account to another? Again, we haven't because we don't want google to be able to see the relationship between the accounts but we do have some accounts that are over the limit that we consider "safe from scrutiny".

    Thanks.

Now that's paranoia! :) I don't think there's any need to go that far (but then you all probably consider me a small fry :D)

Nitin, in Arizona an LLC is about $125, all you need is a different, novel LLC name. You can have a million different LLCs going to the same address, they are all different entitites. Look up LLCs, and probably S-corps (the way to go for smaller stuff) for your state or possibly look at getting one somewhere else. There are 50 million websites that will do it for you.

But he doesn't want just a separate legal entity, he's trying to hide from Google :D
    Don't exaggerate, it's unbecoming :)

I have paid for yahoo dirs on about 7 different sites. but I pay for about 25 directories total. Yahoo is by far the most expensive.

In my opinion if you think your site is going to be around a long time and you have a service people want you can't afford not to.

I do not do it for every site though just ones I feel will be around for a long time.

For example if I was to make a site about the play station portable (PSP) I would not do the directorys. The psp has a moderatly short shelf life and while i think the directorys would pay for themselves i doubt they would give near the return.

If I was going to make a Poker website with tips and tactics on how to play the game plus player profiles and stuff(which I am) I submit it to every directory I can find that will take my money (and has decent backlinks itself). Over time to beat the competition your going to need every backlink you can get and these directories will help you get your site out. Then once your site is out if its worthy people will link to it.

I get a new P.O box for each company then have them all forward to our main office. Extreamly small cost

I believe you can no longer have P.O.'s for AdSense, no?

I also thought adsense didn't allow P.O. Box addresses. Or, is that just for personal accounts?

It might be that PO aren't allowed for personal accounts, since I have a business one and it has a PO Box address. I wonder if I bypassed the system by spelling out "post office box"

Mine go to a box, but it's a UPS store box, so it uses a different format than a standard P.O. box address.

    example:

    Joe Blow Web Site
    123 Main St #1000
    Over There, USA 12345

(This would be Box #1000 at the UPS Store located at 123 Main St.)

I have no problems with it.

Fantastic! Thanks very much guys. I knew I could get delivery at a UPS or mailboxes etc., but when I checked a few months back I was told it would be a post office box. I'll go back and be much more clear that I just need people to be able to address to me like it isn't a PO box. Thanks again!

The first time I incorporated I did the delaware and nevada deals ..... That works unless you become successful or unless you actually live there.

I ran into alot of tax ISSUES from not incorporating from my home state of nebraska.
