    Of course forums make money, but they need to be extremely popular to make it worth while as far as adsense is concerned.

    I run a blog and and a forum

    Blog received higher click but low page impression
    Forum high ad impression but low click

    Sometimes blog outperform forum and vice versa.

    Leaderboard banner just below the navigation link is the most best ad placement.
