My theory, valid?

I want to put the price of my product in my PPC ads. I figure only serious people will click on it if they see the price in the ad. Is this theory valid? I obviously have a low CTR, but does that hurt me?

from a marketing standpoint, if the price is GOOD, then it will attract more potential buyers, yes.

yeh put a good price and most likely only real buyers will click and converting rate would be much higher.

I would suggest doing one of those things where you put a "slash" through a higher marked up price and then the real price below to convey savings on top of this idea. A little oomph for your method :p

Not a good idea from many points of view.

First, as you said, CTR is lower and that hurts you as far as the QS calculation is concerned since most of QS is click rate. And since QS affects your cost, it hurts you financially.

Second, you are assuming people will shop on price. Many times, they don't. Not for every product of course but what people are looking for is value.

There is a reason why price is usually mentioned last at the bottom of the page. It's so that people read the page and being driven down the sales funnel. Your job is to give them reasons to buy your product so that when they get at the end, they can't find any reason NOT to buy it. Even if it's a bit more expensive, they will think it has more value and buy, even if it's the same item someone else sells but who doesn't guide them down and show its value.

If you mention price right in the ad, you've just negated this guiding process. Plus, if they are shopping based on price only, they are not going to click your ad and you'll never guide them and make them realize that your product is better than the next guy's. The other thing of course, is that you may not be the lowest price and they'll click on the ad showing the lowest price. What do you do then?

But it all starts with the proper keywords, "buying" keywords as some people put it. Once they reach that stage, you should only have "serious" people see and click your ads, provided your ads are attractive. This leading down the sales funnel starts with your ad. Then all you have to do is close the sale with great copy.
