Google has a serious problem with people paying for pagerank, google likes natural links, not paid. So heres my theory on why google has not updated its PR yet. Google is teaching link buyers a lesson, to all those people who purchased 1-2 month links in hopes on reaping the benefits of the PR juice they provide. I think google turned off their PR calculations or whatever it may be referred to as so all the sites who paid for a link will not get it. Google doesnt like to be predictable, there PR updates have been somewhat predictable (every 3 months or so), google has put a stop to that. So lesson from google...dont try to buy your pagerank, dont worry about what google does and how it operates, SEO your site the proper and natural way and you will be rewarded.
You have to worry about what Google does, or else you will not know optimization and marketing strategies to implement for your sites. Google changed the way they look at link exchanges, so are you going to continue your "proper and natural way" of doing link exchanges. No I didn't think so, with SEO you have to adapt or you will be left behind.
Your theory is just that...theory. Verging on paranoia. Google will continue the update when they are good and ready. Go back to sleep and I'll wake you up when the update starts.
OR.... They could be in the process of adding updates to the PR system since they announced they will be devaluing link buying\selling sites. My 2 cents.
ok, you can continue worrying then while others pass you up. So basically you're telling me you are going to sit around and wait on whats going on with the PR update rather than moving on with optimizing your site?
I am sure there are hundreds of Google employees laughing out loud and shaking their heads at some of our members comments here....LOL
It is widely believed that G doesn't even count a link if it is less than maybe 5 or 6 months old. That is primarily because so many links go up, and are then taken down a short while later, that it would be a total waste of G's time to count them then remove them. Secondly, the PR you are talking is toolbar exported PR (or public PR). It is also widely held that internal PR is updated very often. So regardless of what your toolbar says, if you get a high PR link for a good long while it should have some value. The question is, how much value is G putting on PR anyway these days? Most people believe that it is not very much at all. /*tom*/
I agree. It's nice to stay informed and know what and what not to do. That's why I'm on here all the time now
I theorize that allot of people will be sad because as always a whole bunch of honest webmastered are going to suffer and a whole lot of sneaky webmaster are going to get away. So we are all just waiting for the devalue of our sites lottery to announce the winners. I have a Pr5 page that is up and down, i thought i was going to be put down to a 4 but i diddnt. after a month or so it is right back doing the 600+ a day it always did. We all just have to wait and see. This feels like when you are waiting for test results. a backwards sad christmas eve that lasts 20 billion years. I should be ok though i have gotten much better since being in this forum. DP FORUM RULEZ!!!!!
Personally, I don't care about my sites pagerank that much, I worry about my SERPs, if they don't change I'll gladly trade my PR4 for a PR3
Not true...During the last PR update a site of mine which was less than 3 months old earned a PR3, so obviously google did count the links. Nobody surely knows exactly, but through trial and error we can learn a little bit more about how google works. I don't measure my sites success by its PR ranking or even by traffic..I measure its success by how many dollars it makes me, ide take a pr1 site with 100 visitors every day if its bringing in some nice money
That was one of my ideas as well, to punish those who buy and sell links. But seriously, Google needs to pull their act together. They're making their company look bad. Of course, they're the king now so there's nothing they can do that will put them out of business. I think Google just needs to update the PageRank before I get really, really angry. I switched domains right after the last update and lost my PageRank, and I'd really like it back, thank you very much!
