My successful strategy

The problem with only using banners and adsense though are that they are obviously adverts, and some people just don't like clicking adverts - this includes myself. People just aren't looking to buy all the time and they know the banner is their being paid for by people clicking it and buying things - they know that if they click it is going to go to a sales page or to amazon or somewhere where they have to spend money.

I think it is good to mix it up a bit and use some in text links too - people know how these work, that you use them on key words in your sentences to link to sites with more information about that area - and someone who is just browsing and not ready to buy might click that rather than a banner, get your cookie, and you might either get the sale there and then if you are lucky, or they might come back later and still have it.

It's worth trying all different approaches... just like the reason for using long copy is that the information is presented in different ways as people scan the page and stop at the elements they are interested in, some people like testimonials, some like stories, some like facts, some read paragraphs, some read bullet points..... in this instance some people click banners, and some NEVER do, but will click text.

 

So how do you link to the review page if you use a text link ad like this? I assume this text link ad links directly to the sales page?

 

Good points George. Some of the most profitable sites are those that have physical products as well as digital. The digital commissions are a nice bonus. Experimentation is the key, but good to raise the point of your softer sell concepts and banner placements.

Thesis is good for this.

I am not to happy about Clickbank in general, mostly cause 1% conversion rate sucks compared to the niche I take home most of my profits from.

I am happy to hear that I am something right at least.

Some other touches which may work is including a profile picture who looks like the target demographic and also adding your own 'web signature' which you can get free.
