Does all this commenting on others peoples blogs really help that much? I mean, any gain is apparently very short lived and you must continuously do this forever. Why not just add more unique content and linkbait to your website with the time you spend on submitting comments and such?
For some reason as simple as it sounds that took me one year to figure it out. I was wondering why when I would search for my user name that I have used to post on the blogs I would get my website in the top position in Google. Thanks for sharing I think I it awesome for the nOObs
Those that found it useful...Your welcome. And I can see both sides to using this technique..It won't do much good for the nofollow blogs...but if you find one of the lists floating around of dofollow blogs..then it will get you some extra links. Just do it responsibly is the best advice.
Good advice. Some guy did a recent case study on this over at jonathanleger.com Interesting case study.
I think keeping the name part personal, looking like a nickname is important - at least to me when I approve. Its not a show stopper, but pure keywords definitely rises the spam level of the post. And if it hits a certain level, I don't approve it. Having said that, a superb on-topic comment will make spammy keywords go through... Rainer
If someone comments on my blog in a way that ads value I don't care what they call themselves. I think it is pretty much understood that someone commenting on your blog is also wanting a little something back for themselves. So if they give me a little something ( a good comment) I don't mind giving them a little something!
Here is a post I recently did about how to drive traffic from stumbleupon, might find it interesting. http://marko.gnosticdesigns.com/2007/11/27/3-steps-to-getting-great-traffic-from-stumbleupon/
Hi I have a little addition to Christian's Tip: You can find relevant blogs that do not use the No-Follow tag on www.seo-traffic-guide.de Depending to your search phrase it might return a list of more than 200 Do-Follow blogs. But I have have to emphasize what many on this thread have already said: Make comments that make sense! If you really contribute to the blogs, then your comment will stay and with it your link - a classic win-win. By the way, jon I like your idea of saying "name from project xyz" ! Mike
