My StumbleUpon Traffic Stats [screenshot]

I'm posting this to answer a question I hear repeatedly, and that is:

"Is StumbleUpon traffic worth it or is it just bounce traffic?"

It's worth it IF done properly.

The following stats were over a 1 month period with no begging, no paid stumbles, no stumble parties etc..etc. All natural using what I learned while researching and testing for the guide I was writing a few months ago (link in sig - 50 people pitched in). As you can see in the screenshot a 53% bounce rate is very respectable, imo.

All natural stumbles tend to do so much better because only your most worthy content gets stumbled... and thats a good thing.

Natural Stumbles seem to work far better for me. When I was working with non-natural stumbles I had about a 90% bounce rate with naturals it is about 72%.

That is a stumbleupon line if I have ever seen one! Looks like a mountain range!

I am getting about a 53% bounce rate which seems great for social media traffic, nice stats as well.

You hit the jackpot man. Enjoy your traffic and monetize it as much as you can. Cheers. :)

Do you have any tracking for adsense and how successful are you in converting your stumble traffic into dollars?

for me i find that stumbleupon traffic is a one off thing only about 20% only ever return. Sometimes you can be lucky and just get traffic pouring in over the month then next month its will all go, but thats stumbles for you.

Can I ask what the purpose of the page refer.php is?

Did you like all posts to refer.php?ID, or something?

Anyways sweet traffic, you have done well.

Yes. Stumbleupon will bring lots of traffic but.. it decreases CTR a lot.

I agree it brings loads of traffic. but is it worth. From my personal experience. Most of the stumblers will stay for few seconds in your site and will leave. It just eats our bandwidth nothing else.

My stumbled traffic never converted much at all. I pretty much just gave up on using it.

Gamernz - refer.php is the main page Stumbleupon sends people from, then you get secondary hits from the stumbleupon tag pages. Refer.php is a StumbleUpon page, not mine, the stats show incoming from where.

dpsubi1 - most stumblers stay for just over a minute and roughly 50% of them start looking at other pages too. I can say that in my experience the traffic both converts and returns.

You have to remember that I focus on the type of articles that do well with StumbleUpon and I make it easy to want to stumble and perhaps most importantly I put a lot of effort into every article.

The short - it's worth it if used properly, you definitely can't just slap a thumbs up button on your site and think thats all you need to do.

I started a successful forum on nothing but stumbleupon traffic. It is worth it if done properly.

And here's a free stumbleupon tip for everyone:

The most important part of getting return traffic from stumbleupon is getting a whole bunch of thumb's up within the first couple hours after your site is originally submitted. This determines how much long term traffic is delivered to your site.
