Mine did pretty well i thought for the estimate pickup and forwards/prints/pdf downloads. It didn't however get featured in any real news sites, it was scraped instead by hundreds of shitty little made for adsense sites. I'm just about ready to launch another press release, but this time i'm coupling it launches in many social networking, social bookmarking, and blog sites. Still considering whether to write my PR myself or have somebody else do it..
"... but this time i'm coupling it launches in many social networking, social bookmarking, and blog sites" right on Kramer ! Don't let those shitty little adsense scrapers worry you. I'll tell Newman about them, and he will make sure they don't get any mail anymore !!
hello again here is an update of the stats from the same release 23,650 - reads 267 -pickups i posted the same press release on prleap.com for free and it got picked up by google news. Both releases from prweb and prleap are on google news Just wondered if it was worth the effort in paying for it. for an extra fee ($50) prleap will allow you to add text hyperlink to your press release. With prweb.com you have to pay a minimum of $200 the press release is here: http://www.prweb.com/releases/2006/11/prweb481767.htm This is the resouce site i used to get ideas to craft my first press release http://www.publicityinsider.com read this two articles, they are very interesting: http://www.publicityinsider.com/freesecret.asp http://www.publicityinsider.com/release.asp
PublicityInsider is a decent resource... one of the better ones in the PR community for people wanting some general DIY info. Being that the release (at least from what I can see... only scanned it) is only the results of an Internet poll, and in an highly specialized niche, I wouldn't expect a large number of pickups using either of the methods you mentioned. You'd want to either a) look for niche distribution sites, or b) use manual distribution options to travel blogs, websites, and publications. If your main concern however is to get into Google News, use PR.com. While PRleap can get you in there, not every release there goes to Google News... on PR.com, they do. Paying at PRweb will get you in Yahoo! News and a few other places that might help with general pickups though. It depends on the kind of return you're hoping for and who you're targeting as to which is better. Jenn
update: good news guys... We have been contacted by the biggest newspaper in East Africa, the East African http://www.nationaudio.com/News/EastAfrican/current/ ..by a popular journalist who writes a column in the same newspaper. He verified what we had just written in the release http://www.prweb.com/releases/2006/11/prweb481767.htm and asked us a few questions about our company. The article will come out on monday (27th Nov 2006) in the newspaper. I will update you on traffic to our sites plus any other info which might be of interest. this is very exciting for us. it is the first release we've done ourselves and we've gotten a good response
Way to go 3mice! that's how you do it. I do love the press too, they are my bestest friends, always ready to spread the word.
