Title pretty much sums it up lol. My sites index page doesn't show up when I use the site: function on Google, however some of the sub pages are indexed. I don't know why this is, it also seems that some of my pages have been deindexed, could this be because they have low traffic flow or aren't being updated?

It could be because your site is either new or you dont have enough backlinks and it would be a good idea to update your content regularly.

Link please? Considering the previous thread I just answered on this very topic, the poster was trying to turn pages into subdirectories, we may see something that you;re missing and be able to help.

Sometimes when I make a new site the subpages get indexed first, then google reindexes and includes the homepage. Just get some more backlinks to your homepage and and it will get indexed.

Make sure you have a text link back to your home page from the indexed pages.

if your site is wordpress and you recently upgraded to 2.8 that could be the issue. Wordpress likes to default to not allowing your pages to appear in google. Check your source for a meta robots nofollow noindex tag. if thats in there you need to go to your privacy settings in the wordpress admin area and change your settings.
