Today I logged into my wordpress account to find my two popular websites have been banned from wordpress because they use too many affiliate links, I had absolutely no idea this was not allowed and am upset since I was making around $1500 per month and had just spent $300 on a seo service for a domain I can no longer use. Please help me, what can I do?
You spent $300 on a blabla.wordpress.com account? You should have spent $10 on a domain instead, and migrated it to your own hosting as soon as it started to show a profit. I would never trust a third party to host my site under their domain, especially one that is making money. The TOS is there for a reason - http://wordpress.com/tos/.
No, I do own an actual domain I purchased through wordpress - topsurveysites.org Can the whole thing (including the domain) be exported to another webhosting service? Thanks for the help
It's easy to export/backup your WP hosted blog (see my post here), but if they've already deleted your account, then I think it's probably too late.
Thanks for the help, no I am not banned my blog is just deactivated. Is it possible to get my domain which is registered through wordpress.com transferred somewhere else? P.S. What software do you use for your website? What web host? Thanks
I don't know anything about how WP operates as a registrar, but I assume it should be easy - you could probably just change your nameservers if they'll let you - or put in a transfer request with another registrar. I use WordPress of course! It doesn't really matter what host you use.
Thanks again for the help Kerosene, hopefully I can resolve this issue. I apologize for all the questions but what software do most people use for websites? I understand wordpress is really designed for blogs, what do you use for just normal websites? I want something I can use to make a good looking website without designing it all myself in dreamweaver, is there some sort of software to do this? And from there do you just need a normal webhost and upload all the files? Thanks
I use Wordpress a lot - even for sites that appear to be static. If it's a site that I intend to add content to over time, then I'll generally use Wordpress. It just makes it easier to update whenever I get an idea, regardless of where I am - I can login to my WP admin and get the content up there asap. And if you don't know enough html/php to mess around with the WP code yourself, there's a crap load of decent templates out there already.
Search for your website in Google, and see if they have you cached. If so, you can at least cut and paste your old content into a new self hosted wordpress blog that you should be setting up now.
From the whois info, if you are Carl Bennetts then you are the legal owner of the domain, even though Wordpress is hosting it. Contact the real registrar, Wild West Domains, Inc. (R120-LROR) and you will be able to reclaim your domain name.
Btw, in Google search for site:topsurveysites.org and you will see every page of your website saved for you, just hit up the Cached link and save the source, and you can reclaim your website.
Great, thanks for all the help guys, I send wordpress an email and see if they can help me out, otherwise I'll try the method that thenotself posted above. Cheers
They reactivated your site after you emailed them? Nice work, I wouldn't have thought they'd do that. Go backup your WP site NOW!
