I was told by my host that my site has been comprismised. http://40kterra.com/28-11-2008-40kterra.com.jpg That my site was extremely going overload on my shared server usage. My awstats began to run all crazy. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v628/chaosauron/stats.jpg My host said this: My site was running on vbulletin 3.73...i'm still figuring out if this has to do with anything.. My host gave me these two options.... 1. Cleaning all of the suspicious code in your files. The price is $50 one time. This is a partial solution which does not prevent your site from being hacked again. If this is your choice, please follow this link . 2. Cleaning all of your files, updating your outdated applications and securing additionally your site. The price is $150 and gives maximum protection to your site. If this is your choice, please follow this link . I'm unsure what I should do. I can just hire the 50$ solution, change all my passwords, and update vbulletin, or should i spend the extra 100$.... But their service for that seems rather vague. Has anyone run into hacking? How should i deal with it. Any tips will be great!
One of my client's vb forum was hacked awhile ago. I can't remember what exactly I did to restore it. I think I did a fresh install and then just specified to use the old database. I don't think you need to pay anyone that much but you do need to the latest versions which 3.74 I believe.
It sounds to me, that your web host could be responsible, because if they were really concerned that someone had compromised your server to change the files. Then they would take action themselves because it affects there server also. SEE^^^^^ Something seems strange. - But please do update and keep a secure password. ~ Mike
