My websites (wassoufclub.com) and (wassoufworld.com) are the only sites listed in the Wassouf, George category in Dmoz.Org However, when you type the main keyword of my sites, WassoufClub.com shows # 1 in google.com , and WassoufWorld shows # 4 or 5. I think i have read that sites listed in dmoz.org are toplisted in search engines Please Clarify. hamoudi
yes..your right...cuz its been three years i got accepted in dmoz.org. My question is, how can i improve my google search ranking. I have tried wpromote.com and it did not work with google
Wow man that is a big question to answer. How can you improve your ranking? get the keywords in the page titles, sprinkle it around the page and get links. Personally the moment I get a site into the top 10, I leave well alone on the page, and just get more links.
1. A Dmoz listing doesn't directly mean better search engine rankings. Why being accepted in Dmoz helps though? Because Dmoz is a trusted source to have a link from, also TONS of websites feed of dmoz and display it's content, therefore your getting way more then just 1 link, you get several. 2. Getting higher rankings would require you to read some more information about SEO. DigitalPoint is an excellent choice to do so. Try SEO-GUY forums and even SEOCHAT. There is just too many ends and factors to list in 1 thread and learning SEO isn't just for your current website, its for every single one you will built in the future.
I think your case is a very typical one, and I am very glad you posted it. So many SEOs believe that a listing in the ODP is some sort of "silver bullet" for Google - it just isn't so. You have to do much, much more to make a successful site marketing strategy. If it was easy, there wouldn't the good people around here getting paid to do it, now, would there?
boohlick - I have no clue, I'm afraid. I have no idea what Google does with the ODP data, other than use it to update their own directory.
Well you asked the following hey there alucard, i have one question... Thus google give more emphasis to dmoz? and if you read http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=306454&postcount=5 I explained what Dmoz's effect is
Whether beyond the original one any of those extra clone links carries any weight for Google is another question, though.
I got a listing for an average quality site in a non-corrupt category. For some searches dmoz title replaces actual site title. This shows G respects at least part of dmoz a lot.
I can't say I've ever seen that, although Google does draw snippets for the description from various places, possibly including Google Directory listing.
