Any extended downtime will lower your SERPS, IP changes should not effect the SERPS though

One-time downtime may not effect your rankings as such but frequent downtimes will definitely affect your site rankings.

if your site went down when the bots crawl the site, you may not get crawled and you'll probably see your SERP position on the next crawl.

I had a #1 and #3 position for 2 very competitive terms. Without my knowledge the site had been offline for something like 2 weeks. Within the last couple of days the site has disappeared from the results :(

Any ideas as to if/when it will reappear and will I get the same positions back.....

One of my sites just went down for 2 days while I was on vacation, then I got it back up but on a different IP. I believe it dropped about 2 spots in both Yahoo and MSN. It's since recovered in MSN, still holding the same spot in Yahoo. Rankings in Google have stayed the same throughout, as far as I can tell.

it will reappear but im not sure if you will get the same positions. maybe you could get a lower position because of sites that are more optimized than yours.
