Before few months I can see the dmoz listing for my site .

Now it lost its dmoz listing. May i know the reason? Is it possible to get the dmoz listing back ? if yes , how ?

that really depends on the reason. My site was removed for being down (for 15 minutes) and was relisted in a few days. Of course I complained all over the net... which is a long story I'll not get into. But the point remains, sometimes a site is re-added quickly. It all falls down to WHY it removed.

Yes you went to agreat deal of trouble to get your site listed, becoming an editor to list 6 sites, including your own. You certainly bleated when it was removed for perfectly good reson and you keep telling people to "forget to submit" LOL.

I have read that thread and the poster was given honest answers. Trouble is the poster did not want those answers. The poster wanted DMOZ to be something it isn't. Like it or not DMOZ is a hobby for us, we do it in our spare time. We collect and catalogue web sites like some people collect stamps. If you want to pay to try and get listed there are perfectly good directories who operate like that Best of The Web for example. We don't offer to review any site in good time because we cannot predict how much time an editor will give, where they will work or what resource they will choose to use for that category. If we were not volunteers and received payment many of us walk. But we like it the way that it is, sorry if some site owners don't like it. You don't have to submit to it and we have no control over who uses our downloads, so if Google choose to use us that is absolutely nothing to do with DMOZ.

ok what we understand from that post.
The reasons given were "may be against TOS" and "may be it has not been reviewed yet"
Then the poster said it could not be reason as the site seems to fulfill all TOS rules and it has been long so it should have been reviewed by now.

Now,the so called mod there doesnt seem to have any other reasons, and rather than saying "we really don't know what might have been reasons if those were not the reasons"
they kept on repeating same 2 things.
Or rather than trying to remove confusion, may be in TOS or time(if there were any) they just closed it.

any way i think it is not place to discuss that here.

About others,it may be hobby for you,but it may not be hobby for many sites who really wants to get listed there as some other sites are providing some value to it for now.

May be tomorrow ,if those sites understands ,ok, it doesnt worth giving any significance, then people wont go to that site.

    And that is the problem.

You obviously deem DMOZ to be a listing service and we most definately are not. The problem is in your perception as to what we are and what we do.

It is a hobby for all editors, we do it in our spare time. Sorry if you want other sorts of directories there are plenty out there and if you don't like them, you can become our rivals and start your own. Our model is that all editors are volunteers and this is their hobby.

Are you sure it was even listed? I checked some old clones of DMOZ and you are not in any of them.

There's no evidence that troybakes.com was ever listed in ODP.

Are you that lazy you can't go and look for yourself? Why would anyone here want to do that if you can't do it yourself?
