    BUT

I dont have root access anymore - and my host is being SLOWWWWW in supporting me

it has taken me 5 days to get the access to the server so that I can start getting me data off it

Are my databases stored on my server?

The reason I ask is I have only been given FTP access - I cant use Mysql, sqldumper etc

    Any help is appreciated

on which company hosting account your sites was hosted

if your sites db is accessible from outside then you can get backup

Some hostings lock the db access from outside access
you will need to have following info:

    name of db:
    username:
    password:
host: if its localhost or something else

    I hope it helps you

    Regards

    Alex

Well, Most of the hosts Secure the DB very much. So outside interference to it without the root access wont be possible...!

Contact your host as soon as possible..! :)

    Thanks for the replies

So the DB isnt held in a directory on my server somewhere?

I have a debian system on a dedicated box?

I was sure I read somewhere I could get access to them via the FTP style file structure

I don't think so you can do it without the root access...!!
