My Site Shows Up without the www In Front Of Domain Name In SE Results --- Is It Bad For Seo

    If a site shows without a the www in front of domain and just shows up as longislandclownforhire(dot)com why is it showing up without the www in front of domain was it setup incorrectly at the hosting company who setups up the add one domain names at hostgator and also are there any SEO consequences because of the way it is currently setup on hostgator

    WWW. versus Non-WWW. has no effect on SEO. It's a personal choice how you want your URL to resolve. You can setup your preference in your Webmaster Tools account. Also use Canonical URL's.
    When it comes to backlinks, this does matter. You can actually split the link juice if you backlink to both the www. and the non-www. So if you choose to use the WWW. always build backlinks to the www.websiteexample.com and NOT to the websiteexample.com.
