My site seems like a Marketing Nightmare, why?

The site has been up and running for a while, and I've run a few adsense campaigns, but I don't know where to go from here. I still have no page rank, and my visits have gone down. I need to know how to market my site better, to increase my traffic and revenue. All help is welcome.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

You need original content. You credit your sources, and good for you for that, because a lot don't. But it's still duplicate content.

Forums aren't easy to start...for any industry.

Just about everyone I've talked to who owns a successful one said it kind of started by accident almost.

But just to start with, you might have to pay someone to make up a few personalities and post stuff 2 or 3 times per day. Search similar forums, and find the kinds of questions people ask on those forums (don't go by the kinds of questions you THINK people would ask.)

Also, on Chrome, the top menus stopped working once I got to the forum section.

    Hope this helps.

try posting in several other forums with similar content, blog about it,use myspace music to promote it.news releases are a great way to get people interested .Also try to contact producers and see if they will link to your site, you need more backlinks. And the content is king try that to get top search engine to see you.

Is it worth getting somebody to write some content for you, either from elance or odesk.com - that way the content will be yours, you can also submit to Ezine later for some backlinks and some syndicated links/traffic. Also, are you using any web 2.0 like twitter and facebook? Could be worth a shot.

If I pay & get permission from a site like AP to put their news articles on my site, does Google still consider it duplicate content when the bot crawl my site?

Yes. It's not a question of copyright, or whether you have permission to use content, google doesn't like to serve up a page of results that are basically all the same, so will filter out results that appear identical to each other.

Yes it will harm your site well but if you could surpass the backlink counts of the original source of the content, you MIGHT outrank them in rankings.
