I have been running my personal website for over 5 years the domain is even older and my content is very unique and genuine. I have been publishing timetables on my website for the past 5+ years which is very well renowned throughout the UK. A particular rougue website which has been damaging our traffic and revenue this year and it has only come to our attention now. They have bad intentions of producing misleading timetables (similar content to ours) and making money from Ad Sense revenue which is plastered and embedded within their content of their website. I was shocked and surprised to see that they were able to use spamming tactics to deceive bots and crawlers to obtain position no.1 for a domain which is only a few months old. I have found duplicate content spammed across the internet by these individuals to obtain the desired position for nothing but monetary gain. We have always been number one number 1 on search engines for the past 5+ years until we came across this rouge website which is damaging our visitor base. This domain in question is only a few months old and is already number 1 for the keywords we use to bring in our traffic: Please would somebody explain how they were able to do this? This is really not fair at all. They are only damaging our hard work which we have built up over the past 5 years. Thank you and i hope somebody can shed some professional advice on this.
They might be doing black hat campaign to boost up their rank. Bomb it with thousand of backlinks using black hat method. did you know that you can report to google if you think that a website is spammy.
Google is not perfect .. just build links to your website and continue adding content .. if they are stealing your content, file a DMCA complaint to Google ..
If you see they're stealing content, you can report them to adsense and google, if you hit as the money source, they'll have no more inclinaison to continue. If they're not stealing your content, you can still try to find something against adsense's tos. Or you could focus on your site even more and not waste time with what other people are doing, it works too, expand your site, you'll get back the traffic eventually.
Thank you for your kind words guys. Yes they are, ive seen them spamming other websites, directory listings and also random article places where they have commented with their link. Now i've always remained clean and do not want to spam my website link on other sites. I have reported them to google but not much is done. I have also seen their link on a website which claims to get websites in the #1 position above their competitors and you have to pay. Now we all know thats illegal and against Google's TOS, i have also filed this with google to no avail. They haven't stolen content yet, however ive looked at other areas, their website has 4 adsense spots when you're only allowed 3, i have reported this along with the cramped content they have. I am also working on the latter as you have mentioned, thank you. If only Google were to act upon websites such as this once it's reported, its a shame.
well it depends what you call adsense spots, often I see on this forum people make the confusion of thinking you're allowed 3 adsense codes on a page, that's not true you can have up to 8, 3 adsense ads, 3 adsense links and 2 adsense search boxes.
So, let me get this straight. You are too clean to ask others for a link in their site, but you like to go to a competitor site and try to find a way to get them banned from adsense? lol. I'm confused. A) Quit looking at the competitor and trying to knock them out of the game. B) Focus on your site and your sites rankings. C) Go for more keywords than one. Don't complain In DP about your horrible situation. My main competitor is Discovery channel and has been winning for 5yrs straight. Compete against them then come back.
Dude, if you are here for 5 years, you should know where to report it. Report that site here : https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/spamreport?hl=en&pli=1
if you are sure that they have spammed and copied others contents then don't be worried. cause they will not last for a long time. Google will simply damage their site
yups if they are spam then therez nothing to worry about ..... just wait a litttle .... have patience as google spiders dont accept spam things and finally u will get good rank
Maybe the new guy was looking at you very closely and just followed what you did. Even copied your content to get there.
