Yeah, there's a few bazillion threads around here about how to get traffic to web sites. I've tried a bunch of them but I'm still not seeing the amount of traffic I'd like. I've submitted to hundreds of directories, written & submitted a couple of articles, placed a couple of links/banners on high traffic sites, listed the site in my sig on various sites, posted threads about it on a bunch of sites, have an Adwords campaign running, submitted to digg, shoutwire, etc, etc, etc... The site ranks pretty high for it's keywords, some are #1, others are in the top 10 on both Google & Yahoo. But I'm only getting less than 200 uniques per day. What else do I need to do? What am I missing? Any help would be appreciated.
Not very old, maybe a little over a month. I actually paid somebody to send out bulletins to thousands, but I only got 20 visitors from that.
You need to be patient. Your site is very new. I didnt start seeing significant traffic from google or yahoo until my site was 5 months old
The traffic has been steadily climbing, the top referrer for the site is Google (organic, not Adwords). I guess you're right, I'm probably being impatient.
im still waiting too.. monetary results take time.. 200 already is good. set a goal for 400 next month and do everything you can to meet it.. link, write, and more..
Well, I am in the same situation as you. I did everything I was supposed to and my traffic has been going nowhere. It is SO frustrating.
I think alot of us are dealing with this. We just have to be patient and in the meantime build up some one way links or do some link exchanges.
Well, sometimes you have to wait for the word to spread and your efforts to pan out, and other times you just don't have a site or topic that people are interested in.
I had traffic and now it has dropped off. I recently changed the design. Maybe it will take time to come back. I would like to hear some suggestions. I have a link exchange setup, a forum and a blog. please suggest any improvements... take a look here http://www.get-paid-at-home.com Thanks
Keep advertising and the traffic will slowly increase. You have to also consider that it is alot harder to get traffic on the web now to what it use to be as there is much more sites than what there use to be.
In my opinion, you are doing pretty good for only a month. I've been going for around two months and I am averaging around 50-60 uniques at the moment. I guess we just need to keep working at it and hope with time that traffic will increase!
It's not what you want to hear but here's the real, lasting answer to your dilema: Unique, Useful Content. Is your site the same as thousands of others on the web? Make it different. Make it special. I launched a content site 3 months ago; I'm getting over 1,000 uniques/day, lots of user participation, over 7K subscribers to the newsletter.... I'm not setting the world on fire, but it's a real start. Why? Cuz the site is UNIQUE! Good luck
Unique, useful content is something that you will need so that your site is different from the rest. But you also still need to advertise it. If you don't advertise it then it doesn't really matter what content you have on your site, no one will come and see it. So make sure you keep on advertising your site and also adding more useful and unique content to it.
The idea of the site is not unique, but there aren't very many of them out there. There some content that's 100% unique, and the design is as well. It's basically an eBay affiliate site, it's a search engine that allows users to search for eBay listings with misspellings (the site listed in my sig below). Any ideas about where to advertise it? I've placed some links on (supposedly) high traffic sites through LinkWorth, but got nothing from that. I bought some banner space from a DP member and that's brought in some traffic, but not a whole lot.
Unique content is good, but also good site navigation is good aswell. For example, if you can't find the information you are looking for on the site then you will go to another site and find it there as it may be easier. For example, this happens in the major search engines. Yahoo search and Google has alot of same sites listed within their search engine, but Google is used more frequently because it's search and navigation is better.
I am talking in general. So don't worry about your site being hard to navigate. I am most certain that it most probably is OK.
heh mike, I actually buy related link from related site and although it didn't help to bring "direct" hits from that site, it helps Search engine ranking. I happens to see my keywords list in MSN, especially, for those terms I bought from related link.
