I like your site, nice and simple. Some of the pages are not working. I'm not an expert since I am new to this web world but I am an artist. I recommend a picture of a soccer ball. The white of the ball would balance the red.

The red is a hard color to adjust to. Try something a little easier on the eyes.

Switch background color, validate it and add more content.

The main thing you'll have to do is change the colors, especially the background color (use white). You migth also consider using another font, cos this one is to basic.

After the changes it should look simple but nice :)

I would try pictures of the player. Also get a multiple color scheme. I suggest purchasing a color wheel. The red is a difficult color to work with. I would suggest keeping red for the navigation and if you are set on a monocromatic layout, try different shades of red to add some variety.

The left nav bar cuts off after the forum link so it looks a little off balance. The comments regarding the colors are spot on -- you should use a contrasting color and according to research white bkg with black text is the best for reading on screen. Also, the graphics seem a bit choppy -- you need to take the edges off. I suggest you look into buying a theme to apply to your site then customize it from there -- it would give you a good base and a professional image. Be careful though because you want it to be customized enough so that everyone doesn't feel like they've seen it before. I have some good article on design on one of my sites, designs4nuke.com. And although some of the content is specific to the CMS PostNuke -- there are some general info regarding design that anyone can use/apply to their site.

Finally, I think using a 'soccer' or sports related theme would go along way in giving the user an immediate visual clue about what you site is about.

    Good luck.

i'm with everyone else, all that red is hard to take though it's obvious why you're using it. why not start by inverting the red and white, then begin to add back more red, perhaps in some of the text and stop when it seems enough? :)
