I followed in the footsteps of YFS1 and another member here and had my site reviewed for cool site of the day. Today is the day that I was selected, so please take a look and vote for me. I've been very laxed about putting updated content the last month because yet again I've been very busy, but I did complete one pretty cool little thing - which was partially inspired by yfs1's health age calculator. What I did was create a utility that will generate love messages and send them via text message to your significant other's cell phone. Seems a little bit nerdy, but the response that I've seen from my wife and my buddy's wife was pretty cool - a totally unexpected I love you coming from a totally unexpected direction. They both thought it was very sweet and I earned a few points for all these late nights. Unfortunately it only works with US carriers for today, but I hope in the next couple days to a week to have international support as well. The site is http://www.bkweddings.com, the love-o-matic is at http://www.bkweddings.com/loveomatic.html, and of course you can vote for the site at http://www.coolsiteoftheday.com/frmindex.html Thanks guys!
Congrats with website of the day! Nice sms script you made. I'll be waiting for the international support. You got my vote!
Come on guys, lets get his site up to a higher rating than 4.7 I got age 93 on your health calculator by the way yfs
I've just submitted one of my sites to it now so I toll will be doing a thread like this pretty soon so come on folks.
I sort of blew it early on with not having updated the site in a while, but I have a few new and better articles up there now, along with this utility. I'm hoping the score will round itself up to a six or seven before the day is over. I appreciate all the help! Thanks dct and weirfire!
5.222 Make sure you re do your AdSense code to still work in a frame. Otherwise they change to Computer Related and your CTR goes way down. Nice Job!
That's a good point. For those who do this in the future: google_page_url = document.location; PHP: Makes it so your ads show up properly when you are doing this. I picked that up from using blog explosion a while back.
My stat's software is on a different server so I haven't moved the log files over yet, but so far I think it's about 500 visitors above the norm. I had the site reviewed in the beginning of September, and they filled me in on the selection about 3 or 4 weeks ago.
I took a look at the archives, and about 1/3 of the sites last month had a score of over 6, and only one had a rating higher than 7. Right now it's climbing pretty steadily after a rough start this morning, but it'll take some work to get it above seven. I really think the residual traffic will be much higher if I can get it over 7 since there aren't a lot of sites rating that high. I found yfs1's site in the archive - which is now a PR4 link - and he made it all the way up to 6.87.
