Someone please help. I just received this email:

Hi, After looking at the tracking of my website, I noticed that the majority of the hits are coming directly from your website. Since your website has nothing to do with mine, I am wondering there is a mistake or a wrong link on your site. This is a concern to my business, since it is a strictly networking website in my city. Please advise. Thank you.

I have no idea what is going on or how this could be especially as I had never heard of the site until today.

i checked out the site and it looked ok; it didnt look dodgy, very well designed, good content. My concern is why are people from my site apparently going to this site?

    would surely appreciate your insight.

I think you should check your complete site may be there are any link of his site, and when you check complete your site and found nothing then may be this guy is making fun with you or it will be another way to get hit's on his site.

I think he is having you on. If you dont know of linking to his site how would your visitors get to it from yours. Why someone sent you an email is another question.

I have figured out the problem. A PHP coder that worked on my site had used the index.php from the person's site which had the person's google analytics detail so when they checked it, they were seeing the results from my site and not theirs and they thought my site was sending visitors to them. It has now been sorted, thanks everyone.

check your website external links by.

    dead-links.com
    or
through seoquake software installing in your pc.

Still you do not find than go in source of each and every page of your website and search for that domain name.

If that person website url is "http://www.hiswebsite.com" than search with only "hiswebsite"

You will find the link if it's on your website, or in text.

Still, you don't find than ignore such mails, otherwise ask proof for the same,

    Regards
