I have a website I spent countless hours building content and links for and suddenly I see that it doesnt work!

    The message I get is

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' in /home/tableexp/public_html/wp-includes/default-filters.php on line 229

Does anyone know what exactly this means??
Please tell me that there is something I can do to fix this.....

    Thanks
    DJ

PM me if you need the URL

This is a PHP error message, so the URL won't help. The problem occurs before the page gets sent to the user.

Specifically, there's a syntax error in the file wp-includes/default-filters.php. If you work in PHP, you may well be able to repair it. If not, you need to try to find the original version of this file and upload it to your site in the appropriate directory.

If this error has only recently cropped up, there's a chance that someone tried to hack your site. It would be a good idea to be sure that you're running the latest version of Wordpress. A complete wipe and restore would be the best option in order to remove any files that a hacker left behind. Good luck!

Yes, it does look like he got hacked. Have a read of this thread, there are plenty more like it.
Get the original default-filters.php and compare its contents with your file, there should not be any urls.
