my site is down

    :( my site is down. it seems that there are server problems
    how can i have my homepage with a message displayed when it is down?

    Switch to another index.php or index.html file. Rename the original one to, for example, index.ht_ and set a new temporal index.html that says "Sorry, we are down, we`ll be back soon".

    If you want that message to be shown automatically, its more complicated and depends on the script/engine/language you`re using. Can be done with custom 404 pages maybe.

    (If your host is down and unresolvable, you wont be able to show nothing at all, even "we`re down" message. So this message should be hosted on a different hosting server.)

    It's strange you are advertising a webhost in your sig you can't actually afford to use now, or at least that what it sounds like.

    Wouldn't they be willing to give you a free account now that you are advertising their services? Talk to them :)
