Hi, I have found out tonight somebody is copying my site. If you take a look at my site (here) and the other site here you can clearly see they have done a poor attempt at copying my site, shameful though, the design is awful. What can I do about this? They have also used one of my images. Thanks
I would strongly advise you to start by contacting the site owner of the other web site and kindly ask him to remove this. Meti
When you feel that another site is stealing your content you should contact their host. Some may advise that you try to contact the owner of the offending site first, but if they are stealing your content chances are they will not respond. Recently I found a website that had copied my home page and several inner pages along with my complete design - even my style sheet! I contacted the host and their hosting account was suspended. Later I saw that the site was back up and they had removed my content though their design is still very much the same. I had attempted to contact the site owner first but an email sent to the address listed in their who is bounced back.
It just so happens it is a user off here who wanted to buy my site but I didnt want to sell just the template. Fight Videos UK It is clear he has copied me and also somebody has been trying to hack my site also which makes me wonder (not accusing) Just so happens his email bounces back!
Fair play to his host, they replied within 5 minutes and have suspended his account. Hat off to them, amazing service!
Excellent! I am glad this worked out for you. I am sure they wouldnt have suspended the account without first checking your accusation and agreeing with it. I hate thievery and laziness
thats awesome..! i had my portfolio stole once.. i tracked them down because they left my analytics code in their design..
Same thing happened to me. I reported them to their host, registrar, istockphoto, their affiliate company and adsense since they were breaking the TOS there too. A bit overboard? They are stealing my content what do I care. If they can't be bothered to at least change some stuff around why should I go chasing down their contact info and wasting my time contacting them directly? I did this last night and site is still up but so far I've just heard back from the hosting company who said they would contact their customer and get it removed.
Well done, my friend. Good to see that you can actually get some action when something like this happens.
Look up the hosting company and send an email to abuse@THEIRDOMAIN and it will be removed pretty soon. Google "cease and desist" for the email to send
Most hosts have a speedy response with it comes to legal issues like that, they do not want to be held liable.
