Generally my sites will be indexed within couple of hours because I am having a good network of people for social bookmarking... Anyhow your tips are really worth to make a try.

Definitely use some social bookmarking sites like Digg and reddit to get indexed. But like everyone has said, be sure that you have relevant content. Sometimes my digg submissions show up as #1 on Google searches too.
