Goog luck with getting response from MSN. one of my site got removed for no reason few months back. I emailed them but never got any reply. Recently few pages came back to MSN index but no traffic whatsoever.
Wheres msn dude when you need him, is he gone? Would be nice if he joined DP and went through some of these threads. I somehow doubt that msn manually bans sites who rank highly because they're selling things. At the same time perhaps part of their algorithm is supposed to get rid of affiliates.. i don't really know.
He was active on DP for a week or two but I think he was getting harassed too much and left. Best place to find him is over at webmasterworld forums.
check all the pages on your site with the site:domain.com command. if you see any fake URL's you are probobly a victim of the dupe content penalty exploit. I was able to fix my site and get it back on MSN with a 410 page gone mod re-write in apache.
I had the same experience too before. I was actually ranking 1 on a particular keyword and then the next morning it disappeared. I contacted msn and they replied to me that they have no control about their SERPs and that its all automated. Fortunately, my site came back after maybe a week but not in the top spot anymore.
No response from . Sent a PM to msndude over at WMW and will see what he says. Some of the threads he has posted in at WMW basically come to the conclusion that MSN actually penalises sites for having spammy links wheras Google and Yahoo just ignores them. The comments made by msndude indicated that if you believed that the links were not placed by you (ie that your site was link bombed by a competitor) you would be re-indexed.
The site has had top rankings for a year now. It had around 1000 pages and is now banned. The server has thousands of sites on it so it never goes down.
MSN/Live is really slow for indexing my pages. Only 20+ pages of my new site get indexed now, while Goog/Yhoo get 200+.
Hi, How does one identify fake using the site:domain.com command? Also, MSN dropped most of my pages but kept an insignificant one which shows up in all the searches for my keywords, but at deep down in the search results, rather than on the first page. Also noticed that some websites have suddenly popped up that have as few as 7 links according to msn, while msn is showing mine as having close to 800 inbound links. Also noticed the Kraft suddenly fell out of the results about a week or two ago but has since bounced back this week. Any one got any ideas? Thanks Donald.
Hi again, Could you please tell what is link bombed? 100 inbound links? 200? 300? per week? I am actively involved, like most web masters in building links. I am pretty fussy, with any site normally having to have a pr4 or better. I suppose I'm exschanging links at around 50 a week, but added about 160 a week for the last two weeks, which is now settling to around 50 per week again. Thanks Donald.
