my site got hacked! please help.

    hey my site
    www.limelight.la got hacked.

    they stole a valuable database of emails..
    can someone explain how this is done so i can prevent it?

    sorry.. im unsure.. i hired a 3rd party web designer. however my web designer.. denies the fact that my database got hacked.. i think they believe i might switch designers..

    It takes detective work to narrow down the possibilities of how they got into the site. As previously mentioned, the access logs are a good place to start. If the attack is in there, it can show what part of the site was the weak point.

    Also tell your webhost what happened. Some are able and willing to help.

    Are you absolutely sure the database was compromised? Even if your current designer/manager denies it, have a conversation with them to get an idea whether they understand how to deal with it if they're wrong and it was compromised.
