We are in the virtual pet gaming industry. Keep in mind I'm getting these hits in beta testing. We plan to reopen registration for everyone in January, so I guess another question would be is adsense right for us right now, or should we hold off?
If its earning, keep it.Even Neopets.com uses Adsense I think, and they're the biggest Virtual pet site.
you must be getting a lot of pageviews , ad one banner from any other network along with adsense to make more money
The second question is a good one. As long as the Google Ads aren't aggresively served to the visitors, you could as well start from now. The thing is that you wouldn't want to annoy the users with ads even from the beginning because there's a chance they won't sign up anymore. As far as your traffic goes, it should earn you quite a lot from adsense at 1.5m-2m visitors a month. You can always test for a few days and see how it's going. Good luck!
Thanks a lot for all the support and help. I've decided to test adsense for a short period of time, and mess around with ad placement and whatnot. I'll report my findings back here on this board, and I may also try a Service that pays by impressions, because so far I haven't been getting near enough clicks. The site is still in beta testing though, so random visitors from where ever can only see a few pages of the site right now. I'm a fairly new webmaster, but I have been told by many far more experienced individuals that this site has the potential to make it big, and I have enough intelligence and support among my staff to sustain the growth of this site. Anywho, I'm rambling. I have way to many projects to work on for me to be rambling. Thanks again all who responded.
I'm more interested to know how many unique visitors you have every day and your content/search CTR Looking forward to your updates.
I don't know that this would matter at all, but aren't a lot of the visitors to a virtual pet site kids? If so, then I can see your adsense revenue doing well for a while...until you get smart priced because the conversion rate with kids would be low. Just something worth thinking about. Comments?
i would suggest just giving it a trial for say 1-2 months, once you have trailed it you will see results then you can think were to place ads better to make the best amount of money monthly. with that ammount of trafic you should get great results and im sure google will welcome you to use there adsense program. my best site gets 300,000+ uniques on average monthly and i could live off the revenue for sure! hope it works out for you
Depends on how "1.5 - 2 million hits" is doled out. If you have 10,000 uniques viewing lots of pages, you might not make much. But if you have 1m uniques who only view 1 or 2 pages, then you'll probably do a lot more! Just remember the good ol' mantra of, "doing nothing earns you $0, but doing something earns you $0 or more." Can't hurt to try it out, in other words.
