My Site | Different Rank Positions on Goole Same Keyword

This has been boggling my mind as it has happen/happening twice now. I just left work and did a keyword search and my site was listed on google at position 67th at work, I get home now, 15 minutes later, I do a search and now it is position number 6. So I remote logged in to a server that is at work right now, and at work it is still position 67th. Which is correct? It has been position 60 something at home and work, but again today, at home it is on the first page. For how long, I do not know.

Are you logged into your Google account at home? That could skew your rankings, i.e. showing you higher. Otherwise, my guess is that you are getting the search results from 2 different data centres, showing different positions.

Not signed to my account as I am trying to replicate what work produces. Using IE as well for the search, since we are bound to only using IE at work. So I am assuming it will be the different datacenter thing. Maybe at home I am hitting the most current dc which has not replicated to the google dc that my work hits. Which I hope anyway......

It can be google dance. However, it will be better if you can clear the cookie before you re-search

This may be because of your Google account. Signout from your gmail account while checking rankings and delete cookies from your browser.

Guys, please read what I have already posted before posting and what others have already posted. Thank you for your help, but a couple are adding comments over comments. All the above has been tried, it seems that my keyword by google has level out to position 20 after the dance.

I think the Google different data centers do not update rankings all at the same time. You may be accessing an outdated data center at work, is all. Happens to me, sometimes. At work and at home they are of different positions (recently I checked I was number 3 when at work, and 4 when at home). The next day, I find that they are now both at number 3 when I check at work and at home.

Try using a proxy to get exact results. Try to choose like a US ip based proxy then type in your site's address. Vtunnel.com is a proxy I prefer however you are free to experiment on which is giving a stable ranking.
