So far I've bought some links, but I'm still getting crappy traffic.. I did at first, get a raise to 100 uniques a day, but now I'm down to 33 average. What can I do to raise that number? I know links is one answer, but I guess I'm looking for a more live audiance. Like chat room ads, or something.
Looks like your site in your sig has PR 0 and no backlinks.. Try to increase the PR and you will get more visitors. Try to submit to a few directorys etc
Since you have a game site. Getting traffic can be really easy or extremely hard depending how you look at it. What you need is some original content that the other game sites don't have. Then people will link to you, your PR will go up, and traffic will begin to flow in. I'm a gamer myself and I've glanced around your site a bit and I haven't really seen anything that would cause me to bookmark your site or link to it with a blog. Getting original content is easier said then done, but it's what you need if you want to succeed in the competitive business of game sites.
Well, I've tried to provide unique content, like the games I 've got from contributors, etc. erm, what could I offer other then that? I need some ideas I guess.
Having games is great. It would be a good idea to promote them more on your front page. A first time visitor right now only sees gaming news and some blog updates on the right. Maybe a short sentence or logo that directs people to your games would help. Although you don't have a big selection right now it would still help to have your directory split up into different categories. That way people who are looking for a particular type of game won't have to dig through the whole list. As far as additional content how about a section on game design. Have some tutorials and beginners guides. Or you could do some walkthroughs and strategy guides for existing games. Those are always great for bringing people in.
Recent fall in number of clicks may be because of revisits .. Lets say you advertise on website with 10000 members . now on the first day when your website will appear more peoples will click on it as its new . but once peoples get familiar to it either they will not click or they will become your website member . Its important how many visits you get but its more important that they should not overlook your site and buy/become member of your site . You can try Tell a Friend/Contest to boost your website traffic (5 to 20% increse is expected quickly).but if yoiu have patience use standard Affiliate marketing techniques .
I'd suggest you should also work on changing the homep age of your iste a bit. I opened the site and it didnt look like a gaming site to me. The site should be so much fun, that users are attracted to it immediately. Remember, you need to take care of design and other issues before you start a marketing campaign for your site (like banner exchange etc) This way, the return and conversion will be much better. Cheers!
Thanks for the help, I do have the downloads page catagorized, you have to use the option above the central list to filter content out. But I will definity put like a Top 3-4 list on the top of the front page.
You need to get a link on my www.stoptheblock.com as it gets over 60,000 hits a day $10 a month Its ideal for an online game website
I agree, the current design uses a lot of white and grey. Some more color would give the site a better look. The margins to the left and right would be a easy place to add a background color or image pattern. I overlooked your game filter the first time I looked at your site LOL. A top game list is a good idea. It gives first time visitors an easy choice when they're not sure which game they should try out. Putting the list on your front page will also help point out your content to people who stumble across the site.
just had a quick look and agree that the site could do with some colour to liven it up. I'd also reconsider the amount of text on the homepage. it seems very long. Nothing jumped out at me to click, perhaps that is only my surfing habits but when i visit a page if nothing jumps out at me i tend to hit the back button. you could try sections and snippets to make it smaller and have the section stand out more. good luck
