That's horrible advise without even looking into the problem. If you know that you are using too much RAM on your VPS, then is may be time to upgrade to a dedicated server with lots of RAM to help with your situation. If your site is getting that much traffic, I can hope that you are making money off of it, and are able to upgrade to something that will continue to make you money.
Definitely sounds like it's time for you to upgrade to a dedicated server. Providing you're actually reaching the limits of your VPS, and it's not a memory leak in one of your scripts/applications or a misconfigured server.
i think you both are right and i will look into that , but i'm earn around 400 USD monthly from my site , do you think it's enough for a dedicated server ?
Before you upgrade, hire a server administrator to assess your server to look for any memory leak, and to optimize your server. If s/he confirm its time for you to go for dedicated server, BUY from reputable hosting company with good bandwidth offering. So far these 2 are the biggest player in terms of high bandwidth, FDCServers.net and 100TB.com Btw, when you run "top" what does it says?
That is more then enough to get a descent Dedicated Server, Providing you look in the right spot. As I said before, Providing you don't actually have a majorly undersized VPS, first process should probably be to hire a system administrator to have a look at your server. Post your VPS Specs & Monthly bandwidth usage here and we will try suggestion your best options.
to see my vps info u can go to http://www.leapswitch.com/m-virtual-private-servers.php and look at MVPS-4
Hello, Which controlpanel that you are using. Please check the incoming http connections to the server at the peak of traffic. Whats the result of this command, netstat -alpn | grep :80 | aswk '{print $5}' | cut -d: -f1 | sort | uniq -c | sort -n
you should also check your Apache config file. That's what happened to me. I thought I didn't have enough RAM, and I kept upgrading. Apparently, it was maxclients that was set too low in httpd.conf which cause Apache to hang. Hope that helps
Buy a Dedicated Hosting and All will be setup..! try to optimize your VPS before you go up for buying one better Dedicated Hosting well and when you buy one, ask other users for feedback and then buy it...! Hope that would make a point to you.. doesnt it?
